AGES: 2-5 YEARS

Story time: Read Luke 15:11-24 out loud to them.
Prayer: Ask the kids to name 5 things you are grateful about for your father’s life and thank God

Craft activity
 
• Materials needed:
   - Scissors
   - Coloured pencils 
   - Wool 
  - Thick coloured A4 paper

• Children to draw  a nice tie on paper.
• Colour the tie and make creative patterns according to their choice.
• Each child to write their dad’s name and a short message on the bottom of the tie saying: “I love you Dad”.
• Ask each child to name 5 things they like about their father/father figure and help them write the words at the back of the tie.

AGES: 6-13 YEARS

Children need to read the scriptures and be able to explain it in their own words to another person.

What is the meaning of the following words?
• Parable
• Prodigal son
• Inheritance

Children need to answer the following questions:
1. What is the story about?
a) Money,   b) Inheritance, or c) Forgiveness
2. Who in the story asked for his share of the family inheritance?
a) Older brother or b) Younger brother
  3. What happened to the prodigal son when he left his father’s house?
4. Did he use his money wisely?
a) Yes or b) No
5. Why did the prodigal son decided to return to his father’s house? 
6. What did the father do when his son returned home?
a) Chased him , b) Punished him, or c) Welcome him back
7. Explain what the father did to make his son feel at home?

FATHER'S DAY ACTIVITIES 

• Children to write names of 10 fathers in the bible  

• Children to write names of 10 fathers in the church

• Children to write names of 10 fathers in the world

• Children to write 5 things that they know about their dad (e.g. favourite food, favourite colour etc)

• Children to make a nice Father’s Day card for their dads.

• Give a huge hug  to your dad and tell him that you love him
