LUKE 12 :1, 12-22

It is foolish to store up material possessions with no regard for God. Since possessions without an eternal perspective are prone to corrupt attitudes, priorities and motives.

1. Problem with possessions

a. Possessions tend to possess their possessor.

Self-absorption

Self-indulgence

Self-deception

b. Possessions tend to overvalue themselves

God does not want you to lose your possessions, but to change their place.” Augustine Hippo

If we focus on becoming better, our customers will demand we become bigger.” Truett Cathy

The movement of your money expresses the movement of your heart.” John Piper

2. Purpose of Possessions

Possessions should be used to express, in its manyfold aspects, our love for God.

My worth is in who I am, not in what I have.

My wealth is both a divine blessing and a God-given responsibility.

My wisdom is demonstrated in the pursuit of worthy causes.
