God keeps His word and blesses those who patiently and perseveringly wait on Him, like Abraham.

1. God have His word

  • Many descendants
  • Mighty descendants
  • Major redemption
  • Great commandment
  • Great commission

2. Abraham waited on God

a. Abraham knew that God was both sovereign and honest.

b. Abraham knew that it pays to wait patiently and perseveringly on God

Patience: high level of staying power in the face of life’s tests, trials, and tribulations (Makrothumia: Insight, love, people).

Perseverance: commitment to one’s goal regardless of the length of time and the vicissitudes of the journey (Hupomone: Foresight, hope, circumstances).

3. God kept His word

  • He is not erratic
  • He is not a liar
  • He is not unjust
