Fasting means to be so consumed with a matter that it becomes more important than food. Therefore, the believer sets food aside in order to concentrate on seeking God about the matter. To lay aside any pleasurable and/or vital activity—fasting is not limited to the abstinence of food.

God has entrusted his glorious message to a frail and valuable human being. Paul urges us to be soft with one another in order to celebrate the strength in one another. The high priest was able to relate to the strong and have compassion for the weak because as much as he had power, he himself was also subject to weaknesses. He accepted that sometimes people do things out of ignorance and that honest mistakes can be made.
