What separates successful people from those who are not?

John Maxwell said: it’s the “extra” that separates the ordinary from the extraordinary.
Every great man to someone is a small man to someone else. Success in life is very relative. Any success obtained through human beings is very shallow and cannot fully satisfy. Any blessing that is not initiated by God is not the real thing and cannot satisfy for long. David says to Solomon: If the Lord is not the builder of anything, the labour is in vain.

What is David trying to relay to Solomon?

1. That God is the only true producer of success:

There are many ways of obtaining blessing and success but sorrows are often attached to them. (Proverbs 10:22) it is only the blessing of the Lord that brings wealth and adds no trouble. If your mind thinks small, you remain small. God never said that building the tower of Babel was an impossible project, but He said whatever men start to imagine, they can achieve. They had a good thought but their motive was wrong. If God is not the reason why we want to succeed then there is a problem.

Exceptionally successful people don't rush to things, they run to God. For if God does not make you, you are not made and if He doesn’t bless you are not blessed. If you make God your friend you will never be sorry.

2. God is the protector:

Calamity is part of life, it can be natural or caused by human. If we commit anything to God, he will protect it better than you can do.

3. God is the promoter of true success
