empowered series

Acts 2:42-47

  • The way they lived is our way to live
  • A life of conviction is stronger than a life of faith
  • A hunger to know His ways
  • Moving from believing that it works to knowing that it works

4 Felt Needs

1. To know God's ways (hunger)

  • You cannot live a christian life on a borrowed revelation
  • Seduction and pressure are two things that will reveal who you really are in Christ

2. To do life deep together (encourage, fellowship)

  • We want to connect vertically but fail to connect horizontally
  • Sharing of ideas and attitude. Proverbs 27:17
  • The purpose of coming together is to sharpen attitude which will affect altitude (how far you will go in life)
  • The way you think daily is what you are
  • The outcome of your life is a product of your inner space
  • 2 Samuel 10:6-11
  • It's impossible for the drvil to attack all of us at the same time. When people live together we cannot be weak at the same time
  • Never neglect to promote fellowship

3. To Praise and Pray

  • Praise and prayer is part and parcel of a christian lifr
  • Prayer is not a struggle, rather a dependency on God
  • Prayer should be reduced to a normal conversation with God

4. Focus on Christ's death "Refocus"

4 Convictions of the church in Acts 2

1. They were convinced that they were called by God

  • Mark and form of privilege - He picked you out of many
  • He called you - If He called you,  it is His responsibility to take care of you
  • There is responsibility that comes with being called
  • Ask God to sanctify you

2. They were convinced that they were called out of the world

  • World = system that governs
  • John 17:15-16
  • Faith always overrided money

3. They were called above the world into fellowship with God

  • Out of something into something
  • John 15:1-5. No fruit, more fruit, much fruit!
  • "Much fruit" is done through fellowship with God
  • When your life bears no fruit it is discrediting God

4. They were called for the world

  • John 17:4-18
